Located in the heart of Bosham with a backdrop of the South Downs, The Crate Bosham is a unique café and bar made from repurposed shipping containers and recycled materials, creating a vibrant and eco-friendly space.
This quirky spot has quickly become a buzzing hub of activity, where by day you can sip on freshly brewed coffee, indulge in all-day breakfast options, and savour a delicious lunch menu. All served in takeaway style, so you can enjoy them on the go or settle into our cozy outdoor seating. In the winter, stay warm with heated lamps and homemade blankets, while in the summer, relax under the perfect sunshade options.
As the afternoon rolls on, the energy ramps up with a fully stocked bar, live music performances, quizzes, bingo, game nights, themed events and delicious evening food. The Crate is the perfect place to relax and unwind, especially with the relaxed, happy vibe that fills the air.
With seasonal opening hours and even more excitement in the summer, there’s always something happening. Whether you’re dropping by for a laid-back coffee or enjoying the lively atmosphere in the evening, The Crate Bosham is a must-visit destination.
Shipping Container Conversion
The construction of the Café and Bar is a showcase of creativity, sustainability, and craftsmanship, constructed from refurbished shipping containers and designed with recycled materials. The vision was sparked by the owners background in carpentry and passion for innovative projects.
Both Luke and Alex, drawing from their tradesman careers, dreamed of creating a space where people could enjoy high-quality food on the go, without the worry of tracking boots indoors—a perfect balance of practicality and style.
Over the summer, they worked off-site to carefully renovate the main body of the container using corrugated metal and a variety of reclaimed materials.
Once completed, the containers were transported and positioned on-site, where the decking area was built using old scaffold boards and different types of reclaimed wood to create a warm, inviting outdoor space.
The result is a one-of-a-kind destination that not only looks incredible but also embodies the principles of sustainability and innovation—a place where great food and drinks are served in a setting designed to inspire and connect.
